CRAFTING THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR AT THE SAMHAIN SEASON

Join Deb and Claire as we discuss the first spoke in the Wheel of the Year – Samhain (“summer’s end”) and move toward the dark time of the year.

The course will be held over Zoom, 7-8.30pm GMT, 1st November 2025.

Called a cross-quarter day, Samhain occurs on October 31, and is the third and final harvest festival of the year. It’s a time to rest, to reflect, and to celebrate home and hearth. It also is a time to honor loved ones who have crossed the veil.  The Wheel of the year is related to the notion of connectedness, an honoring of nature, the land, the sea, and the cycles of the season.  The Wheel of the Year is ever-spinning progression of eight primary holy days in the calendar, four of which are Solar holidays and honor the solstices and spring and autumn equinox.  The other four holidays are referred to as Cross-quarter days, and spin on the wheel alternately between the solstice and equinox days.

In this course you’ll learn:

  • What Samhain means to us today

  • The historical and cultural significance of Samhain

  • Symbols of the holiday and how they came to be

  • Magic and Divination of the holiday

  • How the holiday evolved into today’s Halloween

  • The significance honoring our beloved ancestors at Samhain and how to create a Spiral Dance

  • Ways to create Samhain altars and rituals, including how to create a “Dumb” (Silent) Supper

  • How to create a simmer pot, a protection charm, and autumn leaf wishes
